Paris Travel Guide For Kids

Welcome to our Paris Travel Guide for kids. Paris is the capital city of France and sits on both banks of the ‘River Seine’ in the region called ‘Île-de-France’. Paris is a very old city and has lots of great architecture to look at, plus loads of art galleries and museums.

Paris is also home to over 600 different playgrounds and amenities for kids of all ages (1 through to 18 years old). Simply choose your age group and head off to the one which ticks your boxes. For the more adventurous, check out Paris Parkour.

There is an inside out building called the ‘Pompidou Centre’ and if you like gruesome things you could visit the ‘Paris catacombs’ which are tunnels and caves underneath the city which are filled with over 6 million skulls.

If you fancy something a little sweeter you can join a chocolate tasting tour on the Saint-Germain-des-Prés or try making your own French bread on a bakery tour.

 

One of the must see things to see when in Paris, is the ‘Eiffel Tower’. There is often a long queue which you may wish to skip, especially if it is not a clear day. Instead you could take a boat ride along the River Seine. You will see the Eiffel Tower, plus you can sail right by the ‘Notre Dame Cathedral’, where once upon a time a hunchback monster possibly lived. You will also pass by the ‘Conciergerie’ which was once a palace, then later a prison.

 

If a boat trip sounds a bit boring, then you could try out the Fat Tire biking tour which will take you around all of the major sites in Paris in about 3-4 hours. Luckily most of the ride is flat, so it is a fairly easy ride.

 

Paris for younger kids

For some hands on fun you could try out, ‘Cite des Enfants‘ (2 to 7 years old) or ‘Cite des Sciences’ (7 to 12 years old) where there is also a planetarium. These are both located at the ‘Parc de la Villette‘ which is a kind of futuristic landscape of gardens, mirrors, mists and acrobats all of which is alongside the canal.

 

For younger children there are a number of street shows called ‘guignols’, which are very similar to Punch and Judy shows.

 

Paris has literally thousands of shops, boutiques and malls where you can explore fashion to your heart’s content. When you are hungry, there is lots to choose from and you will never be far away from a pastry, ice-cream or chocolate.

 

 

Disneyland Paris – Paris Travel Guide For Kids

Disneyland Paris is probably the most popular of the attractions even though it has only been open since 1992, and technically it is 32 miles/50km from the city. We know that all kids want to visit Disneyland but we have to remember that this is a family holiday and sometimes you will have to do some grownup stuff as well so mum and dad get to enjoy the trip as well.

There is a lot of things to do at Disneyland Paris including learning how some of the animations are done. Obviously there are rides galore, from scary roller-coasters, parachute drops, the Twilight Zone and even to tram tours around the sights and rides.

Each month there are special events, shows and attractions, so make sure you know what is happening and when.
