Bangkok is the capital of Thailand and where most tourists first arrive when they land in the country. Like most capital cities Bangkok is a busy place, but luckily there are a few things here to keep you from getting bored. Let’s face it, not everyone likes museum and galleries.
Sea Life Bangkok Ocean World is one of Southeast Asia’s largest aquariums. There is a Shark Walk which lets you walk just inches above the water where the sharks live. You can discover giant spider crabs and the giant octopus as it camouflages itself at the Rocky Hideout.
At the Coral Reef you can get close to Lion fish and clown fish as they swim around the coral. There are also tunnels through the aquarium and the chance to see stingrays, penguins, more sharks, jellyfish and lots of other cool underwater animals including sea horses.
Kidzania at Siam Paragon is a great place to visit as you get to pretend to be a fireman, learn to fly a plane, learn to be a mchanic and a number of other things which lets you get hands on action in the very nearly real world.
Bounce Bangkok, is located on the top floor of The Street shopping mall on Ratchada and is an action-packed trampoline park and climbing centre. The huge space is open to everyone aged three and older (young children require adult supervision). With 5,600 sq. m of space to play in, there are trampolines of all kinds: some have padded walls so you can practice your Park Coeur flips and jumps. Brilliant fun for the whole family.
If you want to get your adrenalin pumping then head to the fifth floor of the Holiday Inn Sukhumvit. Lazgam Bangkok is a lazer park which is spread out across two floors within a maze of walls and partitions. There are several types of game to play but the most common are Teams, red vs blue, or Solo Play, which means every man for himself. Other game types include Alien Invasion when one player starts as the alien and has to shoot people to turn them into aliens too. Lazgam Bangkok is open to anyone aged 7 and over.
Do you want to be a pilot when you grow up? Flight Experience Bangkok is located in the second floor of Gateway Ekamai Mall. It is a great experience for wannabe pilots and even for people who are scare of flying. The cocit simulator has been used in many films and tv shows because of how realistic it is.
If the weather is getting a bit hot for you, why not go skiing for the afternoon? Snow Town Bangkok is an indoor village where it snows and you can go skiing. You can rent all of the equipment and even arrange for skiing lessons.
Taco Lake Wakeboarding can be found close to the airport and is a cable-pull wakeboarding experience for beginners and professionals. Go and have some fun and get wet!
Dinosaur Planet Bangkok is a great place to get really close to dinosaurs and ideal for taking fantastic photos. The theme park dedicated to prehistoric beasts, from the snarling T-rex to packs of Velociraptors. There are 200 life size monsters for you to discover as they are located amongst their natural habitat next to the centerpiece volcano.
Other things in other areas
If you want your trip to Thailand to be especially memorable, you should try and get to the elephant sanctuary near Chiang Mai. This is a fantastic place which looks after and protects elephants. Unfortunately many elephants you will see in Thailand have been treated cruelly, so visiting the sanctuary is a way to make sure the elephants you interact with have only had a good life.
Outside of Bangkok there are thousands of excellent beaches where you can swim, snorkel, paddle, jet-ski, water-ski and all kinds of fun things.
Even though the food might seem a little weird at first – think rice and chicken for breakfast – Thai food is really nice. Be brave and try some.
